Altar Servers
It is a great privilege to serve at the Altar of our God and therefore Servers are chosen from those who display a desire for a more intimate union with our Lord and God, Jesus Christ. Servers have a solemn responsibility to do their assigned duties with dignity and reverence.
Prerequisites of Serving . . .- anyone who has received their first Holy Communion
- able to follow directions and expectations
- able to pay attention and be reverent at all times during Mass
- dress appropriately
An Altar Server will . . .- learn about current Church requirements and regulations
- learn about vestments, sacred vessels and other key terms
- learn to be spiritually prepared to serve Mass
- develop responsibility through preparation and anticipation
- fellowship with other servers in the parish

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC)
- Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist the priest with distribution of Holy Communion in a reverent and orderly manner.
- EMHCs should receive sufficient spiritual, theological and practical preparation to fulfill their role with knowledge and reverence.
- Training is provided in the Fall each year. EMHCs must be approved by the diocesan Bishop.
- All ministers of Holy Communion should show the greatest reverence for the Most Holy Eucharist by their demeanor, their attire, and the manner in which they handle the consecrated bread and wine.

Lectors
Lectors proclaim the Word of God. When the Sacred Scriptures are read in the Church, God himself speaks to his people, and Christ, present in his word, proclaims the Gospel.
The Liturgy of the Word is to be celebrated in such a way as to favor meditation, avoid haste. Brief periods of silence are appropriate, by means of these, under the action of the Holy Spirit the Word of God may be grasped by the heart and a response through prayer may be prepared.
Anyone over the age of 16 who has received the Sacrament of Confirmation may serve as Lector.
